Deadline: 16 Jun 2022

Description

Dear friends, We are calling on you! The musicians of the world, from the Caribbean coasts to the African savannahs, to help us create a colorful global symphony this World Rainforest Day on the 22nd of June. Let’s use the power of music to inspire, awaken and spread joy, with rhythms of hope to generate a space of understanding and connection with our planet's forests. Music for the Forest will be an online music celebration that brings together artists from all over the world to showcase the beauty, importance, threats, and challenges of forests through the power of original musical pieces. Why your music matters! 1. Support the rainforests by helping raise awareness with your musical vibes! 2. By submitting your music: - You will be featured on our World Rainforest Day (WRD) Playlist/Event, to be screened, during the WRD conference, as well as throughout WRD celebration events around the world! - Selected songs stand the chance of being featured on future Rainforest Partnership events and audiovisual content, as well as partner programs getting your message to a wider audience. - One lucky artist or group will receive the JMI Green Note, an award of €1000 for young artists (under 30) making an impact socially and artistically. 3. You will contribute to carrying a social and environmental movement of creating music for the conservation and restoration of our nature. Who can participate? Music for the Forest is open to both professional and amateur musicians from all over the world. Submissions from musicians aged 15 and above of all formations are welcome. Contributions from different genres are equally valued - soul or singer-songwriter, highlife or hip-hop, folk, jazz, rock or tango, classical music of every tradition and every type of music besides! However, only original songs will be accepted. How to participate? Musicians are invited to submit an earth-inspired song, either as a video clip or audio recording, along with a transcript of their lyrics. The song can be in any language, however, work submitted in languages other than English or Spanish should be submitted with a transcript of both the original language and a translation in English. If sending a video, please make sure to record it horizontally. The song should be submitted online by 10 June 2022 at the latest and should be accompanied by a short author biography and description of the song.
